Our Mission
The health world can be complicated, overwhelming, and discouraging. Our aim is to solve this problem by creating quick, easy to read, one-page health recipes. We want you to be able to read a health recipe, learn something, apply it to your life, feel good about it, have fun, teach someone else about it, and try another. Together, let’s create a community of stress free health!
Our Story
We have been friends since university—back when we thought beer was a food group and a gourmet balanced dinner was BBQ’d steak with a side of more steak. We had both always thought a little about our health, mostly in terms of physical exercise, but over the last handful of years we have become more interested in a balanced approach to overall health. We live a few hours away from each other now, but have always made time to chat and catch up. Our conversations would usually end up in the health sphere, talking about the new things we had each recently learned. Every time we discovered interesting new ideas from great resources, we had four thoughts:
1) This is great information; let’s try it out.
2) Why didn’t we know this sooner?
3) Why don’t more people know about this?
4) How do we make this information more accessible to people and enable them to try it out and stick to it?
Our mission to simplify healthy living and to resolve this disconnect had begun.
There is a vast amount of health information available, and lots of us are excited to make a change, but this is paired with another feeling: frustration. We are bombarded by health information that revolves around expensive foods, supplements, subscriptions, health tools, and time-consuming ventures that are unrealistic for the average person. This can cause us to become discouraged, overwhelmed, and uncertain about where to start or what to focus on. This is when we decided to start writing a book that focuses on the basics of healthy living.
We are simplifying health industry information to connect us to the most important points. We are not reinventing the wheel; we are shifting the wheel on its axis to deliver the information in a new way. We aim to bring together the most important, accessible, and actionable information, creating health tips in the form of recipes, bringing us back to the basics of healthy living. These are not food-related recipes, but physical health and wellness plans broken down into bite-sized one-page recipes. We chose to focus on six main categories: Breathing, Sleeping, Nutrition, Movement, Strength of Mind and Stress Management, and Social and Environmental Interactions. We chose these categories because they are consistently shown to have the biggest impacts on our health, while also being inexpensive and quick to execute.
As we have been on our journey of writing this book, we have been thinking of ways to get the information out sooner to make the recipes available to anyone who wants to read them. This is why we decided to create this website, and provide people with the weekly emails. We want you to come along for the journey as we chip away at this book in the short chunks of free time that we have to write.
